The Sinking of de Vijzelgracht
The City of Amsterdam is building the Noord Zuidlijn, an underground trajectory
that should connect the North and South part of the city. Last wednesday there
plopped a hole in the constructionwall at the buildingsite of station Vijzelgracht.
Groundwater leaked in and six 17th century houses sunk partly in the ground.
The people who live there were not allowed to go in their houses anymore. The
media jumped on it and controversy on the building of the metro heated up.
Yesterday Nixus and me went to scenery to take a look. As always we discussed
photography and imaginery in the modern mediascape, and according to Nixus photography
is gonne be more personalized by photographers to make their specific mark.
Well, there may be something to it, there may be not. But here's my photomark
of The Sinking of de Vijzelgracht.
National Geographic Wannabee
Ha, my ambition as a National Geographic Wannabee pays off. As the expedition
ship Endeavour was in the port of Amsterdam this week, National Geographic gave
me a call and provided me with a Noah like photo oppurtunity. I am very grateful
and i hope National Geographic will let me sail with them as a photographer
on their next arctic adventure.

Dancing on the Streets
When i was about 8 years old and visited the artmarket of Montmartre i wanted
to be a professional silhouette cutter. Somewhere along the road i lost that
ambition, but as you should always try to realize your (old) wishes, i am going
to pick up the silhouette thing. Not so much to become a late professional,
but for the heck of making funny pictures with it.
The C&A banner in the background hangs on the officewall of magazine Quote.
"Stammenstrijd binnen Nederlands rijkste familie" it says, Clanstruggle
within the richest family of The Netherlands. If i was the Brenninkmeijer
family i would turn the struggle into a dancecontest. Ook De
Pers schrijft er over.
